When you see a green check on this site, it means one named check we actually ran, with the date we ran it. Click any check mark to see exactly what was checked.
We found the business in public records and confirmed its website or Google listing is live. Date shown.
Its address or stated service area covers the county where it's listed.
Every fact on the listing traces to a public source we keep on file. Nothing is guessed; a blank means we didn't find it published anywhere we looked.
State-licensed trades only: we look the business up on Tennessee's public license search and show the exact license type, number, and the date we checked. This check isn't running yet, so no listing shows a license mark today.
Claimed listings only: the owner reviewed the listing and confirmed its facts, date shown.
Checks 1 to 3 are what "Listed" means. Check 4 is the "License verified" mark. Check 5 is the "Owner verified" mark.
So far: we found 1789 businesses in public records, and 1400 cleared the real-and-operating check. Trade pages count only listings that cleared every check we run before publishing, so those counts are smaller than the raw records. That's what "so far" means on those pages.
Some things we don't check, and we won't pretend to. No criminal background checks. No insurance verification. No workmanship review; we haven't been on anyone's job site. If a mark for one of those ever appears here, it will be its own named check with its own date, not folded into anything else.
I'm John. I live in Dayton and I run this directory myself. Two promises: if a listing shows something wrong, email me at info@fglocal.com and I'll fix it. If a business wants off this site, it comes off, no questions and no delay.
I don't guarantee anyone's work. I haven't been on their job sites and I don't vet workmanship, insurance, or background. What I check is exactly what each listing says I checked, with a date. Hiring is still your call, and the guides on this site are here to help you make it well.
I pay for this site myself. I run FG Local, a web and automation business in Dayton; I build websites and business automation systems for local companies. I read horror story after horror story from contractors who have to pay to be found using large national companies and feel trapped. I wanted to build an alternative that can help connect homeowners with the folks who can do the work they need done. Every listing here is free and always will be. No business pays to be listed, and nobody can pay to rank higher. Businesses can work with me to improve their own systems and buy back some of their time, but that won't ever affect anything on this site.
Every business I find in public records gets a listing here, free. No business pays anything, and the only thing that moves a listing up is the owner confirming the facts on it.
Claiming isn't turned on yet. When it is, this is where you'll confirm your listing's facts and add photos and details about the work you take. Until then, email me at info@fglocal.com and I'll make any fix by hand. Want your business off this site entirely? Same email. It comes off, no questions.
